1. TIDEWE Rubber Outdoor Hunting Boots: Best Overall

The TIDEWE Rubber Outdoor Hunting Boots are the best hunting boots under $100.

They’re lightweight, incredibly durable, and resistant to any environmental condition you can think of!

Can these value-priced boots stand up to high-end boots?

Let’s find out!

Material

These boots are made of 100% waterproof CR Flex-Foam, infused with 4-way stretch nylon and a lightweight neoprene rubber sole.

TIDEWE Rubber Outdoor Hunting Boots Waterproof Material

This material keeps your feet dry throughout your entire hunting journey, retains body heat to keep your feet warm in even the most extreme conditions, and flexes with your feet as you walk for optimum comfort.

The puncture-resistant, lightweight rubber sole provides excellent traction, and even grips well onto ice! A ribbed outsole along the perimeter gives you stability in even the deepest muds and snow.

TIDEWE Rubber Outdoor Hunting Boots Rubber Sole

The TIDEWE boots come in two different insulation options: standard (uninsulated) and 400g.

Both options keep your feet pretty warm, but the insulated option obviously offers more heat retention.

Durability

It’s easy to break these boots in, and they hold up excellently over time.

I’ve had my TIDEWE boots for about 6 months now, and even throughout many miles trekking through swamps, snow, ice, and hills, they’re in as good of condition as the day I bought them.

TIDEWE Rubber Outdoor Hunting Boots Durability

Others note similar experiences, so I expect to get at least another year or two out of these boots with continued heavy use.

Height and Weight

The lightweight material these boots are made with is one of their biggest selling points.

Depending on the size, they weigh anywhere between 3.6 lbs and 5.2 lbs. Light enough for running through the snow, but heavy enough to keep your feet warm and protected!

TIDEWE Rubber Outdoor Hunting Boots Length

Men’s size 5 – 8 are 15” tall, and sizes 9 – 14 are 16” tall.

They are a bit shorter than the typical 18” hunting boots, but these couple of inches shouldn’t make a huge difference.

What does make a difference?

How much lighter they are than other hunting boots!

TIDEWE Rubber Outdoor Hunting Boots Lightweight Sole

Fit

These boots are sized to fit over thick socks and jeans. They’re pretty true to size, but take into account what kind of socks you’ll wear.

TIDEWE Rubber Outdoor Hunting Boots Perfect Fit

Do you wear thinner socks? Go down a size.

Like to wear two pairs of socks? Go up a size.

Comfortability

The TIDEWE boots are very comfortable, and easy to put on and take off.

They fit looser around your calves than some other boots do, making them ideal for wearing over thick, winter pants.

TIDEWE Rubber Outdoor Hunting Boots Comfortability

The standard, uninsulated boots have a comfort rating of between 4 and 50 degrees F, while the 400g insulated option is ideal for temperatures down to -22 degrees F and up to 41 degrees F.

Best Uses

These are the ideal boots for outdoor enthusiasts.

In addition to hunting, they’re great for fishing, ice fishing, scouting, and camping!

Their main purpose is to keep your feet dry and warm, no matter the conditions, whether you hunt during the day or at night.

If you’ll be walking through water, mud, rain, or snow, go with these boots.

Price

The price varies, depending on the size and insulation option you choose.

The uninsulated boots can be found for anywhere between $70 – $90, while the 400g insulated boots range between $90 – $110.

TIDEWE Rubber Outdoor Hunting Boots Logo

They’re very modestly-priced, but comparable to the top high-end boots!

If you’re still not convinced, some retailers even guarantee your satisfaction by offering a one year warranty.

  • True to size
  • Very comfortable
  • Quality at a modest price

2. Kamik Men’s Nation Camo Hunting Boots: Best Elk Hunting Boot

Kamik’s Men’s Nation Camo Hunting Boots are the best elk hunting boots.

They’re lightweight, incredibly warm and comfortable, and come at a price you just cannot beat!

Are they still high quality at such a low price?

Let’s find out!

Material

The Kamik Hunting Boots are made of waterproof suede and include 200g of removable 3M Thinsulate insulation.

The multi-layer footbed includes a 2mm moisture-wicking layer, 5mm of insulation, and a 1mm foil thermal barrier for added heat retention. They also feature a waterproof gusset tongue, which aids in keeping cold air out.

The sole is made of Kamik’s Snowtread non-marking synthetic rubber, which provides excellent traction on all kinds of winter surfaces, including ice.

The boots are even seam-sealed, further aiding in heat retention and waterproofing. If Kamik has prioritized anything in the construction of these boots, it’s keeping your feet warm and the elements out!

Height and Weight

At an average weight of 3.6 lbs (depending on your shoe size), these boots are very lightweight and perfect for walking long distances while elk hunting. They have no bulkiness to them whatsoever.

They are, however, a bit shorter than most hunting boots at just 11.5” tall on average. So, these probably aren’t the best boots for wading through deep mud or snow!

Fit

These boots do run a bit smaller than average.

If you wear thin socks, order half a size up.

Like to wear thicker socks, or even two pairs of socks? Order a full size up.

Some retailers offer these boots in a wide version, so if you have wide feet or wear thick socks, this might be a better option if you can find your size!

They can be a bit snug around your calves, but have ample space inside so you won’t have to curl your toes.

They’re very easy to break-in, and the laces stay tight throughout the day.

Overall, I’m very happy with both the fit and the feel of these boots.

Comfortability

These are very comfortable hunting boots, and I’ve never had a problem with my feet staying dry while wearing them.

The insulation is very thick, warm, and comfortable. It kind of feels like walking on a memory foam pillow!

They’re comfort tested in temperatures down to -40 degrees F. While I haven’t taken them out in that level of cold, I can confirm that my feet have stayed dry and warm over many hours in 20-degree F weather and 6” of snow!

They’re great for those cold winter nights spent hunting, as well as trekking through miles of snow to reach your prey.

You can hide from your target, sitting in deep snow for as long as you need to without your feet getting cold at all.

Best Uses

While these are the best hunting boots to use with elk and deer hunting, they also work well for many other applications!

I’ve worn them for snowshoeing, ice fishing, and even snow shoveling. Each time, my feet stayed dry, comfortable, and warm.

Price

Depending on where you shop, these boots will cost you anywhere from $80 – $100.

Like other Kamik boots, they offer great quality at a low price, making them an excellent value.

3. LaCrosse Men’s Grange 18-Inch Hunting Boots: Best Rubber Boot

Waterproof boots are a must when you go hunting, especially when you’re out in the rain or swampy areas; and LaCrosse has you covered.

They boast a fit that won’t slip off when trekking through the mud and waterproof construction that will keep both your feet and lower leg dry.

Do these boots stand strongly against harsh environments or do they fall apart under a little pressure.

Find out in my review of the LaCrosse Grange Hunting Boots.

Construction

This is the single most important aspect of a good waterproof hunting boot.

If it can’t stand up to some harsh environments and keep you dry, then it’s no good to anyone.

Luckily, I have little to complain about, aside from a couple of issues.

The boots are made with hand-laid premium ZXT rubber that provides a durable, waterproof, and scent-free construction.

LaCrosse Men’s Grange 18-Inch Hunting Boots Rubber Texture

Additionally, the ZXT rubber is ozone, abrasion, and tear-resistant.

All of these construction aspects make the LaCrosse boots a heck of a contender when it comes to hunting footwear.

My two most important criteria for deciding if something is of high quality are durability, and in this case, if it effectively keeps water out of the coverage area.

The waterproofing is solid. It performs exactly as advertised.

Even on some more extended and muddy trips, my lower legs were completely dry.

On those muddy trips, things can get rather slippery, and those trips are where the Grange boots shine.

The outsole of the shoe is flawless. Their chevron cleated outsole provides some of the most secure footing I’ve had from any boot.

LaCrosse Men’s Grange 18-Inch Hunting Boots Outsole

You won’t be falling in the mud any time soon with these boots.

Not to mention that unlike most boots, the sole isn’t glued on to the boot, but rather fully vulcanized on to it.

That means zero sole separation for the entirety of the boot’s lifespan.

The cinch on the upper lip of the boot is an extremely welcome addition since it’s actually functional.

Many of LaCrosse’s competitors have buckles that really seem to be more for show rather than practicality.

That cinch works superbly and helps keep even the upper leg dry during heavy rainfall.

LaCrosse’s claims their boots are abrasion and tear-resistant.

That claim holds true with their Grange boots.

There was some mild surface scratching, but nothing that actually made a cut into the surface; it affected the look, but the boots didn’t sustain any damage to its integrity.

Tearing was non-existent, mostly due to how the cinch prevents the material from sticking out enough to snag on anything.

I did try my hardest to rip or even badly stretch the boot, but that was a complete failure.

That short-term durability is impressive but is that durability perpetual?

It’s kind of a complicated answer.

My personal boots have stayed essentially flawless, but I take really good care of my gear.

Everything is cleaned or washed as soon as I return home from any of my expeditions.

Some of my friends on the other hand are a little less proactive with their gear.

As a result, their boots quickly started forming fissures on their boots, primarily around the ankle, the most articulated portion of the boot.

Just take care of your gear and these boots will last you a long time.

Effectiveness and Practicality

We’ve already gone over the durability, waterproofing, and other factors, but I’d really like to focus on an issue that has been the bane of my existence since I started hunting: getting my foot stuck in the mud and subsequently pulling my foot out of my boot.

LaCrosse Men’s Grange 18-Inch Hunting Boots Waterproofing

I have put myself into a bad mood by doing this more times than I’d like to admit, but no more!

The LaCrosse Grange boots still sink into the mud, but they’re not coming off, maybe ever.

That cinch I mentioned earlier makes it nearly impossible to tug this boot off your leg, but even if you loosen it up all the way, that boot is gonna fight you like crazy if you try and take it off.

LaCrosse Men’s Grange 18-Inch Hunting Boots Length

Every time I get home from a hunt, it’s an entire event trying to get these things off.

I’m not kidding when I say it’s a minimum of 5 minutes to shimmy both of these guys off my legs.

Price

These rubber boots won’t run you $150-$200 dollars like many waterproof hiking boots.

LaCrosse Men’s Grange 18-Inch Hunting Boots Box

The LaCrosse Men’s Grange 18-inch Hunting Boots are only going to cost you $79.95 at most retailers and online stores.

4. HuntRite Men’s Insulated Waterproof Hunting Boots: Best Treestand Hunting Boot

When you’re sitting in a freezing treestand for an indefinite amount of time, the last thing you need is cold, wet feet.

Luckily, HuntRite’s affordable waterproof boots will keep your feet warm, dry, and feeling great.

And they’re not just the best option for hunters.

You’ll love these boots so much, you’ll want to use them for everything from chores around the homestead to hiking.

Here’s what makes these HuntRite’s the best option for keeping your feet warm…

CONSTRUCTION

If you’re like me and put all of your footwear through the ringer, you’ll want a boot that’s made to last.

HuntRite’s Insulated Waterproof Hunting Boots are constructed from a combination of full-grain leather and high quality nylon on the uppers and a 100% waterproof lining.

These boots are made with an oil-resistant rubber sole that are dual-density and bobbed for optimal traction.

As far as getting your boots on and off quickly, the HuntRite Insulated’s have a handy pull-on loop on the back.

But don’t let that make you think they’ll slip off while you’re walking. In truth, this pair of boots comes up high enough on the ankle to feel sturdy and slip-free.

The steel shank on this design adds extra support and durability.

My only replacement for this pair of boots was in the laces. After several months of wear and tear, I threw on a new set of laces and was back in business.

COMFORT

Here’s where a good pair of boots can make all the difference for treestand hunting.

You want something that’s sturdy enough to get you to the stand with no problem, but also something that’s comfortable enough to wear sitting still for hours.

This pair of HuntRite’s will do both.

The Thinsulate Ultra insulation keeps your feet warm on the coldest day, but also isn’t so much that you get too hot when it’s warmer outside.

With wicking mesh on the inner lining, you won’t have to worry about excess moisture.

Plus, these are 100% waterproof.

When I went hunting this fall, I accidently stepped in a puddle that had to be more than half a foot deep. I fully expected to feel wet socks, but was shocked when I pulled my foot back up completely dry.

Another added measure of comfort is the perfect padding on the tongue and collar. Unlike many of my new boots, this pair didn’t take any time at all to break in.

They’ve got a removable EVA insole, which, to be honest, is my least favorite part of the shoe. I just popped in some of my favorite inserts and it felt like I’d been born into these boots.

5. RUNFUN Men’s Waterproof Leather Hunting Boot: Best Upland Boot

The difference between a great hunt and a terrible one in the ice and snow of the uplands can be determined by one thing: your comfort level.

Which is why you need a boot that will give you warmth and reliable traction for all that hilly terrain.

RUNFUN’s Waterproof Leather Hunting boots give you both of these, plus a whole lot more.

Let’s check out why these RUNFUN’s are my favorite boot for upland hunting…

CONSTRUCTION

Made from a unique blend of leather and sturdy camo nylon, this boot is made to withstand the harsh climate of the uplands.

The lighter weight of these RUNFUN’s makes them deceptively tough.

When I first got my pair, I assumed the lighter weight would mean lesser quality, but that was far from the truth.

The anti-slip sole has deep threads and is flexible enough to give me the purchase I need to feel confident climbing in the high country.

They’re made from a wear-resistant material that has lasted much longer than I ever would have expected from this affordable pair of boots.

RUNFUN is a newer boot company, but have spent the entirety of their 30 years perfecting the design and build of high-quality hand-made shoes.

So, if anything were to go wrong with your new pair of hunting boots, they’ve added on a long-lasting warranty to make sure you have what you need.

COMFORT

Now, let’s talk about the biggie when it comes to hunting in cold-weather climates←will your feet stay warm and dry?

With this pair of boots, the answer will always be YES.

After accidentally putting my foot through a layer of ice, my RUNFUN’s went up to the tongue in frigid water.

I fully expected to feel soaking socks, but was pleasantly surprised to find my foot just as warm and dry as when I put on my boots that morning.

Along with their totally waterproof lining, these boots are built with a layer of 400G 3M Thinsulate insulation that is just right for trapping warmth.

I’ve spent countless hours trekking through the highlands and, while many trips were a bust as far as game, I never once worried about the comfort of my feet. They’ve always stayed warm and dry.

The other thing that sold me on this pair of RUNFUN boots was the fact that they took hardly any time to break in.

I walked around the block a few times in them before my first hunt and, presto, it felt like I’d been wearing them for years.
